Year 12 History students attended a coursework immersion day at Aberystwyth University last week.
As part of their A Level studies, students are researching and writing a coursework essay on the topic of the First and Second Crusade. The class travelled to Aberystwyth University to attend a day of workshops and lectures by Crusade specialist, Dr Bjorn Weiler. As well as learning about the latest academic research on the Crusades, the students also examined issues such as historiography and source analysis.
The visit was part of the History department’s commitment to ensure that students have access to subject specialists and the latest research in order to fully understand their A Level topics. The department offers masterclasses from academics and lecturers and access to journals and recently published books to support A Level students in their learning.
