Bishop Vaughan’s library is more than just a place to find your next great read.

The library has a growing stock of new and classic books, as well as up to date recommendations to ensure you find the book that is right for you. We are also in the process of building a team of student Bibliotherapists who will be able to offer tailored recommendations based on books you have read before. In addition to reading for pleasure, there will soon be a range of books to support your academic studies and your personal health and wellbeing.

The library is now the new home of the Book ‘N’ Brew reading club - new members are always welcome to join us for a hot drink and a discussion of our monthly pick.

On this page you will also find links to reading lists targeted for each year group, as well as the Book ‘N’ Brew club booklets which will direct you to subject specific reading.

BOOK 'N' BREW

Book ‘n’ Brew is an opportunity to get together and discuss books we think you’ll love over a cup of tea!

Book ’n’ Brew is an inclusive reading group for Year 10-13 students. We select books on a monthly basis and meet over a cup of tea to discuss our thoughts. We read a wide range of books, from dystopian fiction to literary classics. Through talking about books we develop our debating and analytical skills. Book ’n’ Brew is run by members of staff who are passionate and enthusiastic about reading, and by creating a warm and welcoming environment, they strive to share that passion with its members. Book ’n’ Brew members also have the opportunity to participate in trips, including an annual visit to the Hay Festival of Literature. New members are warmly welcomed - all you need is enthusiasm, commitment and your own mug!
