Covid-19 Update, 31st December 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have learned this afternoon of some changes to the plans for the first week of the Spring term and are keen to let our pupils and their families know of this as soon as possible.

We have been informed by the Local Authority that changes have been made to the planned return to school on 6th January, following meetings with Welsh Government and all Councils this week.

Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th January will continue to be staff planning days, as communicated last term.

All pupils will now remain at home and will access their timetable via remote learning from Wednesday 6th – Friday 8th January.

From Wednesday 6th, staff will provide online learning according to week 2 of the timetable. There will be a variety of live lessons and recorded lessons.

We have been informed that this change is to allow for emerging data on Covid-19 to be analysed, including the new variant, and that the Local Authority aims for schools to return to partial or full operations from 11th January. We will provide you with further information as soon as it becomes available to us.

Please continue to regularly follow the information on our website and our social media.

Childcare is provided for the children of critical workers from Wednesday 6th January. Please contact us on the school email to book a place if eligible and if this is required.

Message from Helen Morgan-Rees – Interim Director of Education at Swansea Council:

All Swansea schools will aim to return to face-to-face learning from Monday 11 January instead of 6 January. There will be a delay to face-to-face learning to allow time to consider updated information, expected next week, about Covid-19, including the new variant. All schools will provide online learning from Wednesday 6 January and each school will provide onsite childcare for vulnerable children if needed and critical workers’ children if essential from Wednesday 6 January. The position will be reviewed on 6 January.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs Pole

Headteacher
