PARISHES AND CHAPLAINCY LINKS

Our school is closely connected with the local Catholic parishes, which play a vital role in the spiritual life of our pupils, families, staff and governors. These partnerships help to strengthen our Catholic identity and provide opportunities for pupils to engage with the wider faith community beyond the school.

Through our parish links, pupils take part in parish Masses, sacramental preparation, and community events. Our School Chaplain, Fr John Browne, is the parish priest at St Joachim and St Anne’s Church in Dunvant, and regularly supports our school by celebrating Mass, leading prayer and liturgies, and providing guidance and pastoral care. Our local parish priest, Canon Jason Jones, visits the Junior Legion of Mary regularly to offer support and spiritual direction. Our pupils have attended Mass regularly in the beautiful Sacred Heart Church in Morriston, and it is the setting for one of our annual carol services. The other is held at St Joseph’s Cathedral, providing a magnificent and inspiring setting for pupils, staff and families to come together in prayer and reflection. These connections help pupils to experience the living Church, deepen their faith, and understand the importance of service, community, and shared worship.

Our parishes are an integral part of our school community, supporting the spiritual growth of all and fostering a strong sense of belonging within the wider Catholic family. We are grateful to the priests of our local deanery for their continued support, guidance, and dedication in celebrating Mass, leading prayer, and nurturing the faith of our school community.

Our school Chaplaincy provides vital spiritual and pastoral support to pupils, staff and families. The Chaplain works closely with staff, pupils and local clergy to nurture the Catholic life of the school, helping to plan and lead Masses, liturgies, prayer services and faith-based activities.

Through these, pupils are supported in their personal faith journey, offered guidance in times of need, and encouraged to take an active role in the life of the school community. We are pleased to have fostered strong connections with local parishes, deanery priests, and wider diocesan initiatives, ensuring that the school remains fully engaged with the wider Church.

Our chaplaincy team are central to maintaining a vibrant Catholic ethos, promoting spiritual growth, and providing practical and pastoral care for all members of the school community.
