Period Dignity Grant Information, 14th September 2021

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians

We hope this letter finds you and your family well as we settle back into a busy new school term.

As part of the Welsh Government’s Period Dignity Grant for Schools, we have recently taken delivery of sanitary products which we will distribute from Wednesday 15th September onwards to our female learners.

The products are free of charge and aim to support period dignity. We hope that by distributing the products to our female learners it will support with helping them to manage their periods confidently and remove any unnecessary barriers to their education. By also having open, honest dialogue about these issues with our learners we hope to normalise the conversation and help to remove any embarrassment. As a school, we remain resolute that no girl should ever have to miss school due to a lack of access to sanitary products.

Therefore, products will be given out to pupils from Wednesday 15th September onwards to take home and we ask that pupils ensure that they have space in their bag or bring an extra carrier bag to take the products home. We will also provide easy access to free products in school. Products will be placed in the toilet in the First Aid area and also in toilets around the school. This will help female students should their period arrive unexpectedly and they do not have what they need.

We aim to distribute the sanitary products to the various year groups on the following days and further information about collection points with the pupils:

  • Wednesday 15th September Year 11

  • Thursday 16th September Year 10 and Sixth Form

  • Friday 17th September Year 9

  • Monday 19th September Year 8

  • Tuesday 20th September Year 7

  • Wednesday 21st September Sixth Form

With all best wishes for the term ahead.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs L Owen

Deputy Headteacher
