I hope that all of the families in our school community have been enjoying a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable break! We have, of course, seen many of our pupils in the past couple of weeks, since we have had both the Sixth Form and GCSE results days!
Sixth Form results were issued on 14th August, and it was truly special to see our pupils’ joy as they collected results which represented the fruits of their hard work, and which enable them to set off for the degree courses and University places on which they had set their hearts! The results saw our A*-C grades rise significantly from last year's figures, and the average points score was the highest of any non-adjusted (pandemic-affected) year.
The school's outcomes were widely reported, as a Wales Online reporter visited the school throughout the morning. Consequently, Bishop Vaughan was the main school featured in the Swansea Wales Online piece, this particularly featuring three of our pupils: Carl, Nia and Joel:
The print edition (Swansea's Evening Post) again focused on our school, with coverage in particular featuring Naarani and Aaron’s achievements:

Evan’s photo headed the national edition of Wales Online, and the reporter also captured images of our pupils at the start of the morning, as well as featuring Carl’s story:
Finally, in relation to A-level results day, our own website piece also captures some lovely photos and quotes from our pupils:
GCSE results was, like the Sixth Form results day, a truly celebratory occasion! Again, results showed that our pupils’ hard work had been rewarded and it was a privilege to see the ‘happy tears’ and actual (literal!) ‘jumps for joy’ as pupils opened the envelopes that they had so nervously anticipated in the preceding weeks! We are thrilled to be welcoming so many of the cohort back to the Sixth Form in just a few days’ time, as well as welcoming many new pupils who have applied to our Sixth Form following the conclusion of their Year 7-11 studies in other schools throughout the city.
We know well that our pupils – as we have said previously – are far more than the qualifications that they hold. We are proud that they have such impressive values and that they are the inspiring ‘pilgrims of hope’ that this jubilee year calls us to be – shining their light and reminding us of what is possible with sufficient vision, resilience and determination. This is as evident in their acts of service as it has been in the joyful scenes that have unfolded in the results days, and I know that my colleagues and our Governors join me in congratulating them for ‘who they are’, even above what they have achieved.
We wish all pupils a relaxing last few days of the summer break and we look forward to welcoming all pupils back to school on Wednesday 3rd September for a most happy, healthy, rewarding and grace-filled new academic year.
