Bishop Vaughan Catholic School is pleased to announce that Ruth Sibayan, who stood as a candidate for Swansea East, has been elected to represent the constituency for two years. Representatives from the Welsh Assembly Government visited the school in September as part of the school’s Enrichment Fair; many pupils took the opportunity to register as voters and Ruth was inspired to put herself up for election. Ruth is hoping to use her position to highlight issues related to homelessness, free healthcare and the voting age limit. Ruth, a Year 9 pupil, had this to say: “I feel overwhelmed to have been chosen to represent Swansea East. I’m one of 60 people to be chosen from a few hundred candidates. It’s amazing.”
